All shortcuts are configurable in Settings: the Goldfish key and its fallback
chord on the Inline rewrite page, the dictation key on the Voice dictation
page. Record a different key there and it takes effect immediately.

## Defaults

| Shortcut | Mac | Windows |

| Goldfish key (tap to write, hold for edit mode) | right Option | right Shift |

| Dictation key | fn (globe) | set it in Settings |

Notes:

- **Japanese keyboards**: Apple JIS keyboards have no right Option key, so
  the Goldfish key defaults to right Command there.
- **Layout combos are safe**: a key that is part of a character combo (for
  example right Shift+2 for @ on Windows, right Option+2 for @ on Nordic Mac
  layouts, or Shift while typing a capital) does not trigger Goldfish. Only a
  clean tap of the configured key on its own fires.

## Gestures on the Goldfish key

| Tap | Write or rewrite in the focused field |
| Tap with a selection | Rewrite only the selection |
| Hold, or double-tap | Open [edit mode](/guides/edit-mode) |

## Dictation key gestures

| Gesture | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Hold and speak, then release | Insert the transcribed text |
| Double-tap, or add left Control while holding | Latch hands-free, press again to release |
